Tas: Tasmanian governor faces tough decision
A political expert says Tasmania's Governor .. PETER UNDERWOOD .. will have to be seen
to be above any perceived conflict of interest in deciding who should form the state's
next government .. after his step-daughter ran as a Labor candidate at the election.
MADELEINE OGILVIE unsuccessfully ran for the Hobart seat of Denison.
The commercial lawyer is Mr UNDERWOOD'S step-daughter and is also related to former
Labor Premier ALBERT OLGILVIE.
Griffith University politics expert PAUL WILLIAMS says it's an unusual situation for
a state governor.
He says noone's saying it's a direct conflict of interest .. but it may leave him open
to the perception of partisanship.
